Florida deep sea fishing — why go Florida deep sea fishing, when Costa Rica salt water sportfishing is only a few hours away and a few hundred dollars airfare from Miami, Orlando or Tampa?
Marlin, sailfish, yellow-fin tuna, roosterfish — and big sweet wahoo! We recommend going offshore from Quepos or Guanacaste, depending on the time of year you want to vacation. From January through March, the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area turns into Sailfish City.
The rest of the year, you should head for Guanacaste, where you can book, a sleek, thirty-seven-foot yacht is based, ready to take you on the action-adventure of your life. All tackle, food, and beverages are included.

Me and Marvin, the Marlin Maniac, first went out on a big boat a few years ago, somewhere down around the Keys. Or what’s left of the Keys. The area used to be a great place to go for a day on the water, but the Keys have clearly seen their better days.
That’s why Me and Marvin now fly down to Costa Rica when we want to go salt water sportfishing — in October, 2001, we were able to fly down from Miami for $199. Or from Orlando for $239! This was MartinAir, but I am willing to bet Marvin’s next paycheck that some of the other airlines have good deals too.
Hotels and nightlife are a lot more reasonable now, especially from May through mid-December, when the beach resorts and each hotel lower their rates by 50%.
